The Only True Religion
Who Is Supposed to Be In Charge?
The Holy Scriptures are not the mere writings of men. The
Holy Bible tells us this
about its validity:
11 Peter 1:21 Holy men of God spoke as they were moved
by the Holy Spirit.
11 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God--and
is profitable
for DOCTRINE, for
REPROOF, CORRECTION, and INSTRUCTION IN
RIGHTEOUSNESS!!!!
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words
shall not pass away.
God's Word is eternally true.
No religious teaching that opposes or contradicts God's Word has
any validity
to it at all.
Matthew 16:13-19
Whom do men say that I am? They answered, "Some say that you
are
Elijah, others say you are Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."
It was here that Jesus asked, Whom say ye that I am?
Peter answered, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God"
Jesus answered and said to him, "blessed are you, Simon
bar Jonah." Jesus referred to him here as Simon. Jesus goes on: "Flesh and
blood has not revealed it to you--but My Father, which is Heaven."
Simon Peter has just professed his faith in Jesus
as being the Son of God.
This profession of faith is the foundation of the Christian message.
Jesus goes on to tell Simon Peter that this belief he has just declared
is the foundation of the church
that will come.
"You are a little pebble, Peter. On this Rock (of faith
in Christ) I will build My church."
Peter UNDERSTOOD THESE WORDS OF JESUS, BECAUSE HE REPEATED THEM
IN HIS EPISTLE:
1Peter 2:4,5,6,7,8:
(Jesus is the Living Stone),
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious---you
also, as LIVELY STONES, are built up a SPIRITUAL HOUSE,
a holy priesthood-----
Wherefore also it is contained in the Scriptures,
Behold, I lay in Zion a
CHIEF CORNERSTONE,
elect, precious, and he that believes on Him shall not be confounded.
Obviously Peter is talking about Jesus,
the Chief Cornerstone laid by God Himself. He also repeats to the people what Jesus said to him: You
are a little lively stone in the spiritual wall being built by God, and you are all holy priests to God."
Peter goes on to explain more about Jesus, the Rock.
"Unto you which believe, He is precious. but unto them which
be disobedient, the Stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. A Stone of Stumbling,
and a Rock of Offense--even to them which stumble at the Word, being disobedient--
People who do not want to obey the Word of God stumble over the
claims of Jesus to be the Son of God.
From the Old Testament prophesies, God declared
that the Messiah would be laid in Zion as the Chief Cornerstone
to the building
of God. Jesus commended
Peter for recognizing Him for Who He was. He did not surrender
His authority
as God or His identity as God to Peter or any other person.
This statement is repeated in Ephesians 2:20,21:
---and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF BEING THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE. In Whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple
of the Lord.
This "holy temple of the Lord" is His church. And
Christ Himself is the ROCK, the Chief cornerstone upon which it is
built.
The claims of the pope to
have the authority of Christ
are a historical fraud.
This historical fraud is prophesied in
11 Thessalonians
2:3,4
-----that man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition---(the
son of LOSTNESS)---who opposes
and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he, as God, sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
The pope sits in a "christian
temple" claiming infallibility, (and only God
is infallible), and claiming the divine title of "Rock of God",
which from eternity
has been the title of the Messiah, and is a title of God which cannot
be transferred to a human being.
